Club Records

Once a year, the ULAC Novice (for both full and associate members) and Senior (for full students only) Championships are held. The format may change year by year. The male and female champions will have their names engraved on their respective trophies.

The handicap trophy is awarded to the archer who has improved the most over the indoor season or on the day of the Senior Championships. The algorithm or calculations used to work out the winner varies from records officer to records officer. Associate members are eligible.

The Purple award, for full students only, is the highest Sports honour ULU can bestow:

  • Full Purple - "Outstanding SPORTING achievement" - successful performance at a national level or national league standard or for the national team (student or non-student), depending on the structure of the organisation of the sport within the UK.

  • Half Purple - "Outstanding SPORTING achievement, but not to the standard of a Full Purple" - successful performance at a level below national (probably county or regional). Where appropriate, competing for regional team (i.e. SE England).

Up to date club records for both indoor and outdoor rounds can be found here.

Rules

  • Only full members of the University of London Archery Club who have paid the appropriate membership fee and shoots for no other university club may submit scores for Club Records.

  • A novice is an archer who started archery from the start of the current academic year untill the start of next years Fresher's Week. All other archers classify as seniors. Novices are also eligible to break senior records but not vice versa.

  • In addition, novices may only break indoor novice records if they are shot in the indoor season, i.e. September - March inclusive.

  • Rounds or matches used in the Records must be meaningful and breakable, e.g. set points scored in a recurve match cannot be used. They also either must:

    • Be used in (or for) an inter-university event, e.g. BUCS, BUTC and SEAL, and for each corresponding student category if it exists, e.g. male/female, senior/novice, recurve/compound/longbow/barebow.

    • Be used to qualify for BUCS Outdoors, and again for each corresponding student category, e.g. Albion, Hereford and Metric 1 rounds can have a male novice category but not a York because it is a male senior round.

    • Be used in inter-Middlesex leagues, e.g. Worcester and Short Metric League.

    • Be used for a national ranking (WA 720, WA 1440 and Compound Elimination Round), this is the only time a senior round record can have a novice record.

  • Individual scores may be shot in practice or in competition with the exception of the Compound Elimination Round which must be shot in competition.

  • Only the top 3 scores from different individuals or teams containing at least one different individual will be published.

  • Competition Team scores may only be used if they count towards an inter-university event, e.g. BUCS, BUTC and SEAL.

  • e.g. Men and Women Team of 3 scores cannot be extracted from SEAL Matches if SEAL Matches are only used for Mixed Team of 4.

  • e.g. Mixed Team of 4 can be extracted from the BUCS Indoors Championships if they are used for a SEAL Leg.

  • All rules must be obeyed if shot in practice (including only one end of sighters in some rounds) with the exception of bouncer rules, where a replacement arrow may be shot.

  • This means if a person has shot 2 Portsmouths back to back, only the first one may be used for records because only one end of sighters is allowed in a Portsmouth round.

  • Worcester Team scores may include associate members as long as they follow the rules of the Worcester League rules.

  • Associate members cannot submit scores for club records with the exception of the following rounds because they are used in inter-Middlesex leagues: Worcester and Short Metric
