ULAC League

 

The ULAC League is a useful tool for monitoring your progress throughout the year, with the indoor league spanning September to the end of February, and the outdoor league from March until the end of the academic year. This is a competition soley between members of the University of London Archery Club, ranking all participating archers in their respective disciplines. Scores should be regularly submitted to the club email with "score" in the subject line to keep the league up to date.

 

Middlesex Outdoors

The outdoor season counterpart to Middlesex Indoors, and our home county championships. This competition takes place on the May bank holiday Sunday and Monday, and marks the transition from Imperial rounds to Metric outdoor for our club. The ideal venue to qualify for BUCS.

 

SEAL Outdoors

Unlike SEAL indoors, SEAL Outdoors is hosted in one single leg, and  is a coming together of all SEAL Universities to decide which club reigns supreme (hint: it's London). The format and hosting club changes every year, and will be decided closer to the outdoor season. As the defending champions this year, we encourage as many members as possible to join us in defending our title, for glory, for honor!

 

BUCS Outdoors

 

Date: June 2016.

BUCS outdoors is hosted in the Summer of each year, usually in the second weekend of June. This is the major outdoor competition for Universities across the country, with almost 300 students taking part. BUCS outdoors is a two day event, comprising a WA1440 in your respective category on the Saturday, followed by a WA720 seeding round and an individual head to head on the Sunday. We will be travelling up on the Friday night and camping for the weekend. Expect sunburn, torrential rain, gales, and the might of Thor himself.

 

Surrey Archery Weekend

The weekend consists of a WA 1440 on the Saturday with archers shooting their appropriate distances. The sunday consists of a WA 720 seeding round followed by head to head matches. The H2H matches provide a different but pleasant change of pace to the competition, and are of international format, as seen in the Olympics. 

 

Bedfordshire FITA STAR

The Bedfordshire FITA STAR is an outdoor competition consisting of two WA 1440s over one weekend. The venue features an excellent burger van, which has provided the sustenance for many an excellent score. Rumours state these burgers are now worth their weight in gold.   

 

 

Clophill FITA FEST

The Clophill FITA fest is held at the same venue as the Bedfordhsire FITA star, and consists of 4 WA 720s spread over a weekend. As the requirements for a national ranking have been changed this past year, this is an excellent opportunity to gain scores for this portion of the ranking.

 

Middlesex Short Metric Matches

The Middlesex Short Metric Tournament is a tournament with a number of legs, each hosted by a different club. As suggested by the name, the round shot is a short metric, comprising 3 dozen arrows at 50m and 3 dozen arrows at 30m. A sign up sheet and list of all available legs and venues will be released closer to the outdoor season.

SEAL League - COMPLETE

The South East Archery League (SEAL) is an annual competition between the archery clubs in the South East of England. This year, the league is  comprised of the University of London, Brunel University, University of East Anglia, University of Essex, Imperial College London, University of Kent, Porstmouth University, Queen Mary University, Reading University, Southampton University, University of Surrey, and University of Sussex. This year we will also be joined by the University of Chichester for their SEAL debut.

 

The competition takes place over the indoor season over 5 legs hosted by different Universities. Each leg consists of one Portsmouth round. SEAL is a fantastic way to meet new people and is a gentle introduction to competitions. Whether you want to go competitively or just for fun, SEAL competitions are open to all full members. Please see below for the fixtures list for this year.

Worcester League - COMPLETE

The Worcester League is a postal competiton between clubs in the county of Middlesex, Including the University of London, Hampstead Bowmen, Aquarius Archers, Brent Valley Archers, Pinner Bowmen, Hillingdon, Harefield, Enfield, Harrow, Cranford, and Spelthorne. There is one leg each month from November to March, comprising a Worcester round. All archers are welcome to participate, and these rounds will take place during one of our Sunday club shoots each month. 

 

Novice Championships - COMPLETE

The Novice Championships are held annually in November for our new members. The competition will consist of a seeding round of 30 arrows followed by a H2H knockout. The Novice Championships is always great fun, and the top three gents and top three ladies will recieve a medal and their names in the University of London Hall of Fame.

Surrey County Championships - COMPLETE

The Indoor Surrey County Championships are held annually in November, and is the first UK record status competition that we attend each year. As part of Middlesex County, we attend this competition as visitors. This is an excellent opportunity to experience competition format in the run up to BUCS indoors and the Middlesex County Championships. The University of London Archery Club did exceptionally well last year, securing visitors team gold and senior ladies visitor bronze. 

 

Guildford Indoor Open - COMPLETE

The Guildford Open 25m is the only FITA 25m competition the club attends. This competition is ideal for archers who want to experience a different style of competition, as Portsmouths are the most common indoor round. The FITA 25m consists of 60 arrows shot on a 60cm face at 25m.

 

 

BUCS Indoors - COMPLETE

This is the major University archery competition of the indoor season, with some 600 University students shooting across 4 different bow styles. As a University competition, archers are split into senior and novice categories, ensuring archers of all experiences can compete on a reasonably level playing field. BUCS is the highlight of the year for many people, and is a fantastic opportunity to make friends with archers from all over the UK. We would encourage as many archers, senior and novice, to attend as possible.

Qualifiying scores do apply, and must be submitted to the club email address.

Middlesex indoors is our home county championships, and we usually excel in  our disiplines each year, securing two senior ladies silver, senior gents barebow gold, senior gents bronze and senior gents compound bronze in the past three years. This is also a fantastic opportunity to meet archers from the surrounding area and gain valuable competition experience. This is an excellent competition for keen archers, or members who are unable to attend BUCS indoors on the Saturday. 

 

Senior Championships - COMPLETE

The Senior Championships are held in March each year to determine the ULU Senior gent and lady champions, whose names will be engraved on the ULU trophies, and recorded in the hall of fame. We run this competition alongside the Caxton House "money shoot", so there is also the chance to win £50 for first place, and a gorgeous trophy!

Venue: Amsterdam

 

No University Club is complete without tour! Archfest is an annual University Archery tournament hosted in Amsterdam.  After arrival on the first day is a great time to get settled into the accomodation and socialise with fellow archers (go Che-london!). The following day is kept free to explore everything Amsterdam has to offer. Competition day the following day consists of a FITA 18m seeding round followed by team H2H matches, concluding with the big bar crawl in Amsterdam's hectic nightlife. An opportunity not to be missed! 

 

Royal Richmond Pagoda Shoot - COMPLETE

The Richmond Pagoda Albion marks the start of the outdoor competition season for us. You can expect a lovely atmosphere and a beautiful backdrop to the competition, shooting alongside the Richmond Pagoda. As a record status competition, members also have the chance to qualify for an English Rose.

The Aquarius Albion is a local annual Easter competition. This is a very relaxed competition, with lots of fun, Easter themed prizes, including prizes for the best gold and worst white.

 

Crystal Palace Open - COMPLETE
