Outdoor Shooting

For the outdoor season, usually starting in March every year, we join another London Club as associate members. Full details on the arrangements for this year will be available shortly. The outdoor season is generally split into the Imperial season where rounds are shot in yards, and the Metric season where rounds are shot in metres.

ULAC League

The ULAC Outdoor League takes the best score of each round shot by each archer over the whole outdoor season. There are 4 leagues: two Imperial and two Metric.

CLASSIFICATIONS

Each category (male/female, novice/senior) will shoot their corresponding imperial and metric rounds which are shown in the tables below. A classification can be obtained by scoring and submitting 3 scores, in competitions or practice, at that classification level or higher. The scores required for each classification level can be found here.

The classifications available and managed at club level (this means rules may differ club to club) are:

  • 3rd Class

  • 2nd Class

  • 1st Class

  • Bowman

The classifications available and managed by Archery GB are:

  • Master Bowman

  • Grand Master Bowmam

To qualify for BUCS Outdoors, seniors must submit a 2nd Class score, novices must submit a 3rd Class score, in their corresponding rounds and in, ideally, a competition between last year BUCS Outdoor event and the stated deadline by the club.

Exception: Novices who scored a 2nd class score in their respective Metric rounds in last year BUCS Outdoor event will qualify them as seniors.

Rules

  • Hits and golds are to be recorded, where the gold is defined by the area within the 9 ring.

  • The position of each archer is sorted by score, hits and then golds.

  • The timing system used is Method 1 (untimed).

  • If an arrow bounces out of the target, an archer may shoot a replacement arrow with the judge's permission.

Metric

  • Unlimited practice is allowed (45 minutes in offical practice) before scoring and using 10-zone scoring + X.
