A lot of things which can go unnoticed are down to the Secretary and the President. The President tries to bring order to the club and collaborate with the committee to overcome issues so regular members don't even realise there was a problem.

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicating with Student Central/other clubs.

  • Meeting with Student Central once a term.

  • Foreseeing potential issues with the club and addressing them.

  • Researching solutions to problems, always keeping the clubs best interests in mind.

  • Nominating members for Purples, in collaboration with the committee.

  • Answering general queries about the sport.

Ultimately a lot of the work done by the President is behind the scenes, but it a rewarding position on the committee. The club should be run as a democracy, not a dictatorship, and the President should always keep in mind what is best for the club.

As for most sports, equipment plays a large role in the success and achievement of each individual and of the club. This is especially true for precision sports such as archery. As our club, University of London Archery Club, is constantly growing at an impressive rate, the need to maintain a well-kept and adequate supply of equipment becomes more and more important and requires the role of equipment officers.

Throughout their time as equipment officers, these committee members will need to ensure the club has all the equipment it requires. In order to do so, a list of things equipment officers should do is given below:

  • Perform inventory check.

  • Keep track of equipment being lent out.

  • Fix equipment to keep sessions running smoothly and safely.

  • Ensure the cupboard is tidy and everything is put away neatly.

  • Ensure the club has all the necessary equipment to operate (bosses, stands, bows, sights, arrows, target faces, stocked toolbox, etc.)

  • Suggest the purchase of new equipment

  • Advise members on equipment purchases.

  • Teach novices how to tune their bows and maintain their equipment (fixing arrows, etc.)
